The Apeks MTX-R Stage 3 Regulator Set combines the extreme cold water MTX-R regulator and MTX-R octopus into a ready to dive set.
The Apeks MTX-R is a true marvel of diving engineering. Building on the incredible military-grade Apex MTX, this recreation-friendly version now brings that same level of quality and technical precision to you. Designed to thrive in the most extreme, brutally cold conditions, the MTX-R has been tested to US NEDU (Navy Experimental Dive Unit) military requirements. Unlike normal cold water regulators, it can handle waters as cold as 0.5 degrees C at 60m.
The MTX-R 1st stage is built to withstand anything you can throw at it.
Featuring an overbalanced diaphragm design that improves breathing performance at depth, you can be sure that the MXT-R is perfect for deep diving. Ribbed heat exchangers maximise heat transfer to warm up the air temperature within your regulator for comfortable breathing while MTX-R 1st stage is also environmentally sealed preventing ice build-up and contaminants getting into the system. The 1st stage features a swivel turret allowing you to naturally arrange your cables for simple kink-free route.
The pneumatically balanced 2nd stage gives you unparalleled breathing quality throughout your dive, no matter the conditions or how much air is left in your tank. A Heat exchanger surrounds the valve mechanism. This helps to increase the air temperature entering the 2nd stage so you can enjoy more comfortable air temperatures in frosty conditions.
Built military spec the MTX-R features large protective elastomer bumpers on the side and top, and a chrome plated brass plate front cover for ultimate durability. Like all Apeks regulators, the MTX-R comes supplied with their fantastic comfo-bite mouthpiece. Designed to prevent dry mouth while supporting the regulator in your mouth, it features a comfortable bridge that sits across your palate preventing cold, filtered air from drying out your mouth.
A first of its kind, over-moulded first-stage end cap and environmental diaphragm to prevent ice build-up that could cause a free flow in extreme circumstances.
Forged 1st stage body gives maximum thermal performance.
Ribbed diaphragm clamp on the 1st stage ensures improved heat exchange in cold water conditions.
Angled HP ports allow for optimal hose routing and transmitter fitting.
Parallel turret ports allow for improved hose orientation.
Superb protection from impact damage on both the 1st and 2nd stage.
Simple to use 2nd stage with no dive adjustment controls and a reduced chance of free flow.
Double swivel hose for greater freedom of movement and comfort.
Patented heat exchanger surrounds the valve mechanism, dissipating the cold caused by gas expansion while drawing in the warmth of the ambient water.
Developed in accordance with the United States Navy Experimental Dive Unit extreme cold water test.
Tested for Octopus use to 60 metres in cold water.

In the mid-1970s, two friends decided to combine their knowledge of diving and precision engineering. Working from a small garage in the north of England, they set about creating what has become some of the most respected scuba diving equipment on the market.
Decades later that spirit of precision-engineering and craftsmanship continues. Our world-class production facility and the fact that we have total control over every manufacturing process make Apeks scuba diving regulators the industry benchmark for design, quality and performance.
Inspired by technical diving and designed for all, the full range of Apeks scuba diving equipment, which now includes regulators, bladders, drysuits, instruments and accessories, has been adopted by technical divers around the world. Apeks scuba diving equipment is being used to explore some of the deepest, coldest and most advanced dive environments on earth. Because when the environment demands, only one thing matters; that your dive kit is designed, developed and tested to keep you safe and comfortable.
